Service coordination is a critical part of the early intervention system. The early intervention (EI) service coordinator acts as the main point of contact for families with infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) who have developmental delays or disabilities. They collaborate with families to help navigate the early intervention system, including eligibility determination, creation and maintenance of the the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), and coordinate, arrange and monitor child services and progress, as well as provide ongoing support and advocacy.
They help families understand their rights and procedural safeguards, and advocate for their child's developmental needs. The service coordinator also supports families for resources needed to support the child and family.
